A Happy St. Patrick’s Day to ye! And a great weekend of work at the Airfield!

Thanks and a tip of the hat to everyone who pitched in and accomplished a lot. It didn’t start as a day of work … Bill Kelder and Jeff Moore were working with scouts for their aviation merit badges and I just happened to ask if Jeff would like to move the old air compressor from his hangar to be either given away or recycled and it just went from there. Bill has been working on an instrument panel project for me so he made some more measurements and before long he and Jeff were working with Jerry Moore’s tractor, picked up the compressor and had it by the fuel building in short order. Ah, the miracle of hydraulics! Jon Smith happened to be in his hangar and took up a leaf blower to blast away years of accumulated dust and debris and Jeff took a look and an old roof leak …

Mark Cigal showed up at the restroom vestibule and ended up moving the hangar lockset to the interior door to the hangar space, then a trip to Home Depot for a new keypad entry set for the exterior door to the restroom and a new motion sensitive light. That’s all ready to go (when you’re ready to go) and the combo is the runway orientation – 1533. Mark was back today (Sunday) to apply primer. Paint, some cleanup and we’ll have that project out of the way. Donations to defray the costs came from Museum Members Bill Kemper and Owen Patton and we thank them again for their support.

On to another job: Isolate and de-energize the electrical service to the old fuel pumps. That was done reasonably quickly and safely and Eric McMahan will make a start removing the old stuff to make way for clearing the site.

Finally, Bills Kemper and Kelder pitched in when Steve Lyons came over. We moved Steve’s airframe and engine from Jeff’s hangar to hangar 9 with help from hangar partner Mark Huneycutt and Mark’s father, Don, (who were out kiting a paramotor chute). That move was years in the making - now it’s done and Steve has everything in one place …

It was a fun day to spend with a good bunch of guys and we got a lot accomplished. Thanks again to all who pitched in.

All the best
