Airfield Letter October 25
Alex Nelon and Mark Cigal

We start out the month with a brief recap of a very successful Apple Festival weekend, the first days of September this year. Jerry Groendyke, Penny Tolchin, and Mark Cigal directed visitor traffic and greeted in the great tradition of Airfield hospitality. Over 1,000 people registered in the guest book – many more did not. The helicopters hopped rides, and the place fairly buzzed with activity.

NEW AIRPLANES ON THE FIELD!!

Alex Nelon and Bill Kemper were searching for interesting airplanes to use mainly for going up and looking down, with an occasional short trip for food and fun. Bill likes Rotax engines; Alex had never flown one, yet they arrived at the same airplane conclusion: the Aerotek A240, built in the Czech Republic. Alex flew his in from Missouri on September 12th, and Bill flew his in from Shelby, NC, on the 14th!
Alex anoints his tire with a few drops of good NC Apple Cider (with a kick, of course)
