What a month we’ve had! The first half of January was like late fall, then winter blasted in with cold, ice storm, wind, and snow! Two of our number, Steve Murray and Seay Stephens, took time off to do some exploring: Steve to Africa and Seay to Patagonia! Mark Cigal decided enough was enough with the ice storm and left for Mexico the last week of January. The rest of us are hunkered down and making do.

Seay had a chance to do some sightseeing from a classic Piper Tripacer … one of Dennis Carlson’s favorite airplanes.
We can imagine Dennis trying to convince Mary they have to make the trip to Patagonia!
Earlier, during the last week of January and between the ice storm and the snowstorm, we received a note from Whittaker Warrington with a picture that showed our Airfield iced over.
Not much flying going on at the moment and the prospects are slim for the next few days unless you happen to have a set of skis handy!

Hendersonville Airport (0A7) had patchy snow and ice on the runway at 10am, Monday, 2/2 which usually goes substantially away after exposure to direct sun and temperatures above freezing.
Our Airfield (8NC9) had a thin layer of ice with slush under, making the field soft and wet. Use not recommended until significant drying.
